Swedish Woman Adopts Four Baby Red Squirrels After Their Mom Dies (Twitter Thread)

Danny Connor is a zoologist and wildlife photographer who lives in a deserted village in northern Sweden, surrounded by wild forests. 

One of her favorite photo objects was Remy, an adorable red squirrel who she described as "Confident and bold". 

When Danny sadly discovered Remy died after being hit by a car, she decided to "Adopt" her four babies.

On her Twitter account, she chronicles the amazing story behind it and her special connection with her new furry friends.

    Nature - I left some food for them - peanuts, sunflower seeds and fruit. They were eating!!!! I WAS SO HAPPY! At 6 weeks old, they had small teeth but were able to eat. I took a risk and decided to leave them in the wild and in the forest.

    Squirrel - At first they were very nervous. I was this big unusual furless creature. From the day I met them, 2 weeks ago, I have spent 4-6 hours in the forest with them. They slept for most of the day but when they were awake, I was with them.

    Adaptation - Dani Connor Wild @DaniConnorWild The baby squirrels have gained my full trust now. I will continue feeding them daily for 3-4 weeks. At 12 weeks old, they will become self dependent. Although, they will always be wild and free, I hope I will remain their Can't be a mum forever friends.

Would they have survived without you? Unlikely. But I live in a village in North Sweden where there are about 15 residents that are mostly 65+.
